Copycat

Ryan, there's this user, Slayer, who has copied and pasted the about section of my user page onto his page, and just changed a few words. Plus, he did it without my permission. Could you please do domething about it? User:Biohazard (talk) - 1 Januray 2009 18:53 (GMT)

  • Technically, any contributions you make to Heroes Wiki are released to the public under the Creative Commons License. I don't think Slayer means any harm--I'm sure he just liked what you have on your user page (it's very clever!). Have you tried approaching him first? I would just ask him kindly to remove what he borrowed from your user page first. If that doesn't work, let me know and we'll see if we can go another route. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 13:56, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Arthur's Office

Hi ryan just saying that i have edited arthur's office could you see what its like ?.Also i was thinking we could rename it to "Pinehearst Chairman's Office" a bit like bob's.is that ok ? Gabriel Bishop 16:08, 1 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • I'll take a look at the edits. I oppose the name change, though. As far as we know, Arthur is the only person who has ever occupied that office. Also, we don't know that he was the "chairman" of Pinehearst. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:32, 1 January 2009 (EST)

JT's response

Did JT say whether or not he should get credited for the iStory or whether he could help get us the credits?--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:22, 1 January 2009 (EST)

  • See Talk:iStory. He said, "Glad you liked it. It was a fun story to do, especially since it fed off the iStory I helped work on." I just emailed him a reply about two minutes ago. If/when I hear back, I'll let you know. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:28, 1 January 2009 (EST)
    • So no reply from JT and David's message said nothing about the credits?--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:30, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • JT said, "I'm not sure why the people behind the istory have been kept under wraps, but for now I would ask that you keep it off the wiki stuff. I am sure NBC and Heroes will offer it sometime. And, for the record, the idea was not my brainchild. I merely came in to help out." Nothing from David about the iStory. I don't know if I specifically asked him, though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:09, 6 January 2009 (EST)
        • Interesting. Based on his reply, and the lack of replies from others, it's sounding like a conspiracy, but I guess it could just be due to some legal matter they can't talk about. I guess we'll respect his request.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:11, 6 January 2009 (EST)
          • Truth be told, I may have led him a little. I told him I've asked some writers and that I run into dead ends all over the place. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:13, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Patrolling

Just read the Patrollers page and yeah, I'm definitely game. No particular questions that I can think of at the moment. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 23:56, 1 January 2009 (EST)

Fugitives

Hey ryan im trying to make a new page on the fugitives but it keeps going on to the volume 4 bit in the season 3 page could you help me ? Gabriel Bishop 06:36, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • That's where Fugitives should redirect, since it's the name for Volume 4, which is the second half of Season Three. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:00, 2 January 2009 (EST)
    • I know that but i wanted to make a page on the fugitives (peter, ando, matt, claire, tracy, mohinder, hiro) Gabriel Bishop 13:23, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
      • Right now, with what's aired, nobody is a fugitive yet. Let's wait until the episode airs in February. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 14:46, 2 January 2009 (EST)
        • oh right you see i wanted to make a page coz i never made one becuase i thought we could make one since there is already a page on sylar's dad and other volume 4 characters ? Gabriel Bishop 14:53, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
          • You can call it Spoiler:Fugitives as long as it has published spoilers and information from previews. By the way, when responding on a talk page, it's customary to thread your comment by adding one more asterisk before your comment. So I just used 5 asterisks, and if you respond you would use six asterisks (******). Your next comment would go on the very next line, with no blank line in between. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:03, 2 January 2009 (EST)
            • Ok ryan ive done the page but its gone a bit wrong could you help me Gabriel Bishop 16:57, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
              • All that was missing was the }} at the end of the infobox template. I added that and now it's showing correctly. There are some things that need to be fixed up, but I'll let you do that so you can get some practice. Good job! (And good job with the discussion threading, too!) :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:07, 2 January 2009 (EST)
                • Thanks :) Gabriel Bishop 17:14, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
                  • Oh ryan thanks for helping me with my own Assignment Tracker pages.I only found out about half an hour ago thier GREAT !!! Gabriel Bishop 18:28, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
                    • You're welcome. I only created the template last night. I'm still working on it. I was not helping you so much as trying something out for myself. I'm still tweaking the template a bit. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:38, 2 January 2009 (EST)
                      • Thats ok But GREAT JOB :) Gabriel Bishop 18:56, 2 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

destiny

So when the interview will come up? Manwithnoname 10:05, 2 January 2009

  • As soon as I hear back from Adam Armus and Kay Foster. I image that with the holidays, they haven't touched the interview questions. I'll send them a reminder email today or tomorrow. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:06, 2 January 2009 (EST)
    • I saw your quote in the water mimicry page, so I assume you'll have the interview posted soon? Great work, by the way.--Citizen 22:32, 7 January 2009 (EST)

sorry

How do I make redirects again? -- Tristan0709 talk 22:44, 2 January 2009 (EST)

  • Type the following code on the page:
    #redirect [[NEW LINK]]
Then save the page and you're done. Let me know if it doesn't work. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:49, 2 January 2009 (EST)

Hey, do you know why when you select "Show preview" on a redirect page, it comes up with "1. redirect link"? -- Tristan0709 talk 02:57, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  1. Because the pound sign by itself usually shows a number, just like at the beginning of my message. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 02:58, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Rather than start another heading, I jus thought I'd ask here. A Clear and Present Danger is going to be referred to as "314" and not "401", correct? -- Tristan0709 talk 03:06, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  • That's correct. The "3" refers to the season, not the volume. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 03:08, 4 January 2009 (EST)
    • Cool, thought so. My massive redirect assignment is OK, isn't it? -- Tristan0709 talk 03:11, 4 January 2009 (EST)
      • I don't have a problem with it...though somebody else can patrol those edits, not me. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 03:12, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Awards & nominations

Is that alright? -- Tristan0709 talk 02:48, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • Yeah, I think it looks good. I assume you'll be doing the nominations, too... -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:59, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Yes, of course. Working on it as we speak. -- Tristan0709 talk 21:12, 3 January 2009 (EST)
      • No rush. I just wanted to know if I should do it, or if you're working on it. Thanks! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:31, 3 January 2009 (EST)
        • Cool. Would it lok better to have multiple nominations from one awards show (like the Emmys) in one cell or different rows? -- Tristan0709 talk 21:44, 3 January 2009 (EST)
          • Try all the similar types of awards together, i.e. all the Emmys in one cell. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:47, 3 January 2009 (EST)
            • Cool. I'll separate them by years, of course. -- Tristan0709 talk 22:01, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Nextpart and Lastpart

I added nextpart and lastpart to the Webisode sidebar per prior discussion, and added it as appropriate to the Recruit and Hard Knox webisodes thus far. If it looks good, we can apply the changes to the Graphic Novels as well. What do you think?--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:01, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • The graphic novels are specifically numbered and have a very definite order (with the exception of the two bonus issues The Rogue and The Last Shangri-La). The webisodes, however, are not released in as way that is as linear as the graphic novels. They have been released concurrently, and sometimes more than one at a time. The order on the Heroes news page is somewhat arbitrary--it's really just a list of when things are released, not an official order. I don't mind using it for numbering our webisodes, but I don't think we need to be slaves to that list. The nextpart and lastpart variables for the webisode sidebar is a good way to scoot around that a bit. It looks good, though it's a bit confusing. I don't think we need to apply it to the graphic novels, though. I'd rather just see a note on War Buddies, Part 6 that says the graphic novel is continued with War Buddies, Part 7. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 11:17, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Image questions

Hey. I just had a question and a few corrections about images. First, I'd like to correct two of the image names (specifically moving Image:Elle's AT.jpg to Image:Elle Bishop's AT.jpg and Image:Brendan Lewis' AT.jpg to Image:Brendan Lewis's AT.jpg simply for consistency's/grammar's respective sakes. I didn't see a move option on the image pages, so I'm guessing image pages can't be moved. If it's a hassle, we can leave it the way it is though. Also, regarding your comment on number of images uploaded, I had a followup on that topic I was wondering if you could address when you get a chance. Thanks. --Stevehim 15:38, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • Images can't be moved. If you want, you can upload the images with the correct name, and then I'll delete the old ones. It's not a hassle at all. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:42, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Ok, I'll do that now then. Thanks again. --Stevehim 15:43, 3 January 2009 (EST)
  • Regarding your follow up question--I saw it. You use your best judgment, Stevehim. You're not a spammer, you're not one of those guys who uses the wiki solely as his own personal RPG, you're a strong contributor--if you want to upload a bunch of images for a project, I don't personally see a problem with it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:44, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Kissing guy

I was just wondering what was going to happen with him. As there seem to be alot of links to him. --laughingdevilboy 15:45, 3 January 2009 (EST)

  • Oy. Yeah, that's one of those things nagging at the back of my mind. It's been over a year now, and nobody's been able to find him. I've looked so many times for anything even remotely resembling Jaron White or a kissing guy in the Tim Kring Cut, and haven't been able to find him. :( -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:47, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Oh well, I would look myself but dont have the deleted scenes. Maybe we should just remove the links until we can find a picture in the deleted scene and keep the actor page for reference. --laughingdevilboy 15:49, 3 January 2009 (EST)
      • I can always undelete the actor page. There's no sense in having an actor page if we don't have a corresponding character page, or if we're not even sure the character ever appeared. I'll take care of the deletions in a few minutes. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 15:50, 3 January 2009 (EST)
        • Just thought I would bring it to your attention :) Nice to see things get done quick lol. --laughingdevilboy 15:52, 3 January 2009 (EST)

Assigment Tracker 2.0

Hey ryan could you help me with my assignment tracker page ? i got stuck on my pic and the power bar where i have put 90% fore peter. Gabriel Bishop 16:54, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • Your image needs to be in the format Gabriel Bishop.JPG, not [[Image:Gabriel Bishop.JPG]]. I don't know what was wrong with Peter's percentage, other than you were missing a percent sign. There is no bar for the similar person. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:02, 3 January 2009 (EST)
    • Thanks i was talking about the control index the line looks slighty wonky.not in the bar Gabriel Bishop 17:11, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
      • It looks fine to me. On another computer, I've seen it about half a pixel off. That's the best I think I can get it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:17, 3 January 2009 (EST)
        • Oh ok it just looks a tiny bit wierd but everything else is great.Good Job looked very complex Gabriel Bishop 17:18, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
          • Thanks. Is anybody else having any problems with the control index line? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:21, 3 January 2009 (EST)
            • Im not sure.if you could tell me the people who have it (i dont know who has) i could check out :) Gabriel Bishop 17:28, 3 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
  • I have a few questions regarding the assignment tracker profiles you created, I was wondering what page they were being linked from as at the moment they are orphaned pages. I also thought if you wanted I could create the rest so you can have more time to see the rest of the site. Thanks --laughingdevilboy 12:21, 8 January 2009 (EST)
    • After all the pages are finished, they will be linked from Assignment Tracker 2.0 in the table. However, I don't want to create another column in the table that has blank spots on it. And I'd rather have some orphaned pages for a while than an incomplete table or a bunch of red links. All the pages will also be linked from the character's page, replacing the full text of the AT profiles. And yes, if you wanted to create the rest of those AT pages, that would be awesome! You'd be a godsend! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:57, 8 January 2009 (EST)
      • I will get right on it :) --laughingdevilboy 14:48, 9 January 2009 (EST)
        • I created a page for knox, I think you will need to have a look, I don't know how to make it go into the catergory of assignment tracker pages and I dont know where his picture is. Other than that I think its fine :) --laughingdevilboy 15:26, 9 January 2009 (EST)
          • I have created the rest of the trackers, didn't have any problems, some need photos and I couldn't access Matt Neuenbergs tracker, so I added as much information as I could. I will leave the rest up to you. :) If you need me for anything just holler. --laughingdevilboy 09:54, 10 January 2009 (EST)

Sacrifice

You're probably right. However, shouldn't fPeter killing (well, attempting to) Nathan count? It was his brother, after all, not a stranger.--IotV 17.59, 4 January, 2009 (GMT)

  • I don't think killing your brother would really be considered a personal sacrifice, along the same lines of Peter knowing he might die when he fights Sylar at Homecoming. However, I don't care much one way or the other. I don't really edit the recurring themes pages very much. I would take it to the discussion page, I guess, and see what others think. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:39, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Cast section

Hello Ryan. I propose that we add a cast section on each episode page featuring a list of main/guest stars appearing in the episode. See this for a better idea of what I want.--Citizen 13:11, 4 January 2009 (EST)

  • Funny, I think I actually talked to Proudhug about that idea. :) My only issue is that the main cast is set. The rest of the cast is not designated as guest stars or co-stars by anybody but us. But don't we already have the list of appearances on the episode pages? Though it's not exactly the same thing, doesn't that accomplish the same idea of listing who appears in the episode? Plus, I think we used to include which main cast members don't appear in an episode. I don't think we've been doing that this season. That'd be a nice addition, and I think even more helpful to know who doesn't appear than who does appear. What do you think? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 16:42, 4 January 2009 (EST)
    • Still, a cast section makes the pages look more professional and complete. It doesn't indicate ANYWHERE, save for the cast portals and minor actor pages, that they appeared on the show. Also, isn't guest starring the names that appear in the opening credits and co-stars the names that appear in the closing credits? Also, even if the main cast is always credited, we could just not include those who didn't appear in the episode, as seen here regarding Elisha Cuthbert. Are they even credited if they don't appear?--Citizen 17:41, 4 January 2009 (EST)
      • Why don't you do a mock up in your userspace so I can maybe see exactly what you're talking about and how it would fit on the page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:14, 4 January 2009 (EST)
      • Hm, actually, doing it only with guest stars and co-stars would suffice. The problem is that the main cast gets changed through the seasons. How do we handle that?--Citizen 22:45, 4 January 2009 (EST)
        • Hmm, let me mull that over. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:47, 4 January 2009 (EST)
          • I think this is what I want done. We can keep them like that.--Citizen 23:07, 4 January 2009 (EST)
            • I'm not sure we need it. It seems really redundant to have the characters listed twice, and it makes an already long page even longer. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 23:10, 4 January 2009 (EST)
              • Then maybe we can do it with guest stars as seen [1]? At least so that there is something that lists them.--Citizen 23:25, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Don't mean to interfere with your conversation, but I think that an idea like this is great, but should be used in the episode box at the top right of the article, like it is used Beginning of the End here, so that it is easily read and does not clog up the article. -- Tristan0709 talk 00:15, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • If we did it anywhere, I think it'd be best in the Notes or Trivia section, or in a new section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (EST)
  • It does look good in the infobox, as done on Lostpedia. Ryan?--Citizen 19:04, 6 January 2009 (EST)

In Dual, did we get to see either Tracy Strauss's car's license plate or the President's limo's license plate?--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:20, 4 January 2009 (EST)

Faceoffs page

Ryan, I've been working on a new page in my user-area called Faceoffs. Wondering if you thought it would be something worthwhile to have as a mainpage entry, or just something that should stay in my user-area. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 01/5/2009 11:46 (EST)

I'm just wondering whether you think we could move this page to mainspace? It's only on my userpage at the moment, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Thanks!--IotV 23.24, 5 January 2009 (GMT)

  • It looks good. Why don't you put a {{rename}} template on it. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:41, 5 January 2009 (EST)
    • I'm not too sure I know how to do that, but I'll give it a go.--Iotv 08.03, 6 January 2009 (GMT)
      • Done! Now we just wait, or what?--Iotv 08.03, 6 January 2009 (GMT)
        • Yeah, give it a few days, and see if anybody has any objections or is in support of it. Then go from there. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (EST)
          • There've been no objections, and some support, so can we move it? If you don't mind, would you please move it - I don't know how, and am afraid of mucking it up!--IotV 20.55, 8 January 2009 (GMT)
            • Yeah, I don't see why it couldn't be moved. I'll let you do the move for the practice. Click "move" tab at the top of the page. Then type the new name of the article (i.e., remove the user namespace). Add a reason ("moving to main namespace" works), and that's about it! Don't worry, you can't really muck up anything that can't be undone or fixed. If you have trouble with it, or if something goes wrong, let me know. Good luck! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:07, 8 January 2009 (EST)
              • I did it(!). Thanks for all the help.--Iotv 10.18, 9 January 2009 (GMT)

Want to be a conductor?

I'm working on a little something right now, in my little fanfic thingies. Is there any chance I could use your nightclub as the setting? I could make you the one in charge of it if you'd like. If you dont want to, I'll be happy to delete it.--Piemanmoo 01:21, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • You know you're famous when people start writing fan-fics about you :) -- Tristan0709 talk 01:26, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • That's very flattering. I don't mind being in a fanfic. :) Can't wait to read it! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 07:32, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Idea

I think there should be a page where people can nominate their self or others for adminship or patrolship. Raiku 17:06, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Admin Nomination

I think that Heroe should become an admin. He has had very constructive edits, and been here really long, longer than you! Raiku 17:11, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks for the suggestion. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:13, 6 January 2009 (EST)
  • Also, why isn't Hardvice part of the staff?--Citizen 18:21, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • He hasn't editing in quite awhile. I think I remember reading on his LJ page that he's got a new business or a new job or something. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 18:53, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • So what's your answer to my suggestion? Raiku 18:54, 6 January 2009 (EST)
        • Raiku, I think they need time to discuss and debate (do you discuss and debate?) before making a decision. Please bare with them. Thanks. --DocM 18:58, 6 January 2009 (EST)
          • I don't make sysop promotion decisions unilaterally. That's a decision all the admins would make offsite, usually over email, or by phone in some cases. We look for consensus among the sysops when promoting somebody. However, I wouldn't discuss the merits and demerits of a member in a public forum. A nomination is just that--you have nominated somebody. If the decision is made to promote that member, you will know. If not, no decision or announcement would be made. However, I will be honest in saying that I personally don't think we need any more admins right now, nothing against Heroe or any of the other users that we have considered. We are not as big a site as, say, Wikipedia--just a few admins can keep up with blocking and deleting, which are the main jobs of an admin. Thanks for the suggestion, though, Raiku--we will take it into consideration. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:06, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • Wow, I knew Hardvice wasn't around much, but I had no idea he hadn't contributed since the Summer.--Citizen 19:01, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Sorry to ask this..

Could you add something [2] to that page about the German being one of Knox's victims, Maury being one of Arthur's victims, and Samedi being incapacitated? I can't seem to figure out how to do it...--Crazylicious 18:56, 6 January 2009 (EST)

  • What would you like me to add? Why don't you try adding what you want to add, and somebody will clean it up if the formatting is off. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:10, 6 January 2009 (EST)
    • Well, Echo and Jesse both have links to Sylar's victims where it says deceased. The German and Maury need the same link to Knox's victims and Arthur's victims, respectively.--Crazylicious 19:14, 6 January 2009 (EST)
      • Oh, I see what you're saying. Well, that's quite a bit of code that needs to be added to a template for just a few links to less significant pages. I could do it, but I'm feeling sick and lazy right now. I'm actually heading to take a nap in the next little while, and I'll see if I can get around to it when I'm done. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 19:19, 6 January 2009 (EST)

Theory Question

Hi - I'm wondering if it's OK to edit other peoples' theories to remove bad grammar, or spelling mistakes; fix links etc, or is it like your talk page? Thanks in advance!--IotV 23.35, 7 January 2009 (GMT)

  • Just like pages in the main namespace don't "belong" to anyone, neither do theories in the Theory namespace. Once they're added to the wiki, they can be edited as much as any other page can be edited--especially for grammar and spelling mistakes. They're not like a page in the user namespace (which, too, can be edited freely in a few circumstances--most notably if it has unwanted red links). Edit at will! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:50, 7 January 2009 (EST)

People's Choice Award!

Maybe you could add something about it on the sitenotice? Just a suggestion.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:40, 7 January 2009 (EST)

  • Great, now just fix "the by the" to be "by the". Thanks. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:02, 8 January 2009 (EST)
    • Sheesh, I make the worst typos! It's a bit of a pet peeve of mine that not everybody can edit the sitenotice (and other MediaWiki pages). I understand why that's so, but sometimes the practical application of it is a bit annoying. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 00:08, 8 January 2009 (EST)
      • That's okay. We all make mistakes, just need to notice them so we can fix them. To error is human, so to speak. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:14, 8 January 2009 (EST)

It doesn't look like they get used much, but I've made some replacement templates to improve and expand their functionality (to include the webisodes). If you're interested in checking them out, see the discussion here. It's mostly straightforward stuff, but I'm waiting till the morning to move them over to main template space in case anyone spotted something.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:19, 8 January 2009 (EST)

  • If you move your user template to replace template:ep, will it mess up the format of the template that's being used right now? In other words, will any of these pages need to be fixed? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 01:22, 8 January 2009 (EST)
    • They shouldn't need to be. The only changes I'm making to template:ep are to add functionality: 1) So that template:gnn (which calls template:ep) can also do namespaces of episodes and webisodes, 2) So that the subtitles SVD added to the webisode output are output by a new template (Eps). Template:Ep will no longer output webisode subtitles, but none of the linked pages use that template to do so.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:30, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Destiny interview publicity

Posted for you about it at 9th Wonders and IMDb. I assume you'll still be e-mailing HeroesARG, the OWI and the rest to let them know.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:52, 8 January 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks for posting at 9th. Yeah, I have an email list I've built up over time with about 30 or so blogs, sites, and other such people that like to hear about interviews. Thanks, Miami! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 09:01, 8 January 2009 (EST)
    • You have sent out the publicity e-mail by now, right?--MiamiVolts (talk) 11:36, 10 January 2009 (EST)
      • Yes. I was at work when I got your email yesterday, so I was going to wait until I got home to pull out my contact list. However, I found it pretty quickly in an old email. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 12:15, 10 January 2009 (EST)

Past Characters (from like 1991 ect.)

Shouldn't there be a past character portal seeing as though there is a future character portal? --Harrypotter1994 09:44, 8 January 2009 (EST)

  • This has been discussed recently. No, because those characters grow up to be the present characters. They're the same person. The future characters are alternate characters who will never exist in the main timeline.--Citizen 10:10, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Question about contributions - pages created

Ryan, I know you can go to 'my contributions' and get a list of everything you've done historically. Is there a way to hone this down so that you can get a list just of pages that you have "initially created"? --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 01/8/2009 10:58 (EST)

  • Not really...but you can find that information out with some dpl logic. User this code:
    {{#dpl:|createdby=HiroDynoSlayer|notnamespace=User|notnamespace=Image|notnamespace=Talk|ordermethod=firstedit}}
Check out the sandbox, and you'll see what I mean. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 11:02, 8 January 2009 (EST)
    • Great...the dpl code is exactly what I needed, and I was able to cull out several other types, so I could make a pretty dynamic list on my userpage of pages I've created...but exclude support-type pages. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 01/8/2009 13:06 (EST)
      • Instead of excluding all those namespaces, you could just choose the main namespace if that's what you want, using:
        {{#dpl:|createdby=HiroDynoSlayer|namespace=}}
The main namespace is the empty string so you leave it blank to select it.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:16, 8 January 2009 (EST)
        • Well, shoot! That's really helpful, Miami! I was wondering how to specify the main namespace. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 21:09, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Sorry to bother you, but when I created the ‘Related Articles: Eden McCain’ page, I left a space between the colon and ‘Eden’. I think this needs to be changed because all the other related article pages have no space between the name and the colon, e.g. Related Articles:Peter. I didn’t want to put this up for name change because it was so small. Thanks -- Irony

  • No bother at all. Yeah, there's no need to nominate it for a name change. You can also just go ahead and move the page yourself by clicking the "move" tab on the top of the article. I'll take care of that now for you. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 20:54, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Thanks For That :)

Hey

Hey man. I saw some of the AT diagram images you made for Raiku, and I must say, they were very good. Do you think you could possibly make a Selective mimicry one? I was thinking maybe something that shows one person demonstrating a power and the person next to it using the same power. If you don't have the time or something, that's perfectly fine.--- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/-

Sorry...

...about the mistakes in the image and the Spoiler page - in my haste to eradicate two red links, I got a little too enthusiastic!--IotV 22.45, 9 January 2009 (GMT)

  • No worries. We actually were gathering images at the same time, so it's not like I went out and uploaded a new image to "show you up" or anything. However, usually we name images a little less generically than "Images" (it helps to find it later). Also, images need categories and sources, and they should be standard size. If you have questions about uploading images, let me know, and I'd be glad to help out. :) Thanks for all your hard work, as always! -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:52, 9 January 2009 (EST)

Episode: Into Asylum

Hi Ryan, can you help me fix the Episode: Into Asylum page, coz I'm having problems about the spoiler link...

Graphic novel videos

Hi, I noticed that you noticed that every video after Going Postal lacks a link to the animated video. Well, I would add the links, except I can't access any of the videos after Going Postal since I'm a non-US viewer. Could you sort this out? --Radicell 08:12, 10 January 2009 (EST)

  • Yeah, that's one of the things on my to do list, as you saw. It's not a huge project, but it's one that'll take a bit of time. I'll get to it one of these days (unless somebody else would like to...) :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 10:11, 10 January 2009 (EST)

Stephen's AT

I noticed that you summarized Stephen Canfield's AT section. Shouldn't we leave all of them in their entirety on each page? I like that each character page has its own "expanded universe" information, and I think many people would agree to keep it as we've always kept it.--Citizen 17:29, 10 January 2009 (EST)

Template:Assignment Tracker

I think you had a duplicate div section that was putting up an image over your image, which is what what was giving you trouble and what I removed. I also left a comment at Template talk:Assignment Tracker.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:33, 10 January 2009 (EST)

Do you know why his DOB was commented out? Were you able to get him the copy of Parasite he was looking for?--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:37, 12 January 2009 (EST)

  • Michael Milhoan's birthdate is also commented, but there's nothing saying why. Do you know?--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:52, 12 January 2009 (EST)
    • Markus Flanagan asked me to remove his date of birth. I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that as an actor, he needs to be able to portray a range of ages, and doesn't want to be pigeonholed into his actual age. But since he asked, I think we can respect that. I believe Michael Milhoan's birthdate is commented out because it's unverified. I can't remember specifics, but I think I found two or three conflicting dates for him--rather than printing incorrect information, it's probably better to not print anything at all. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 08:06, 12 January 2009 (EST)
      • Thanks for the info.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:14, 12 January 2009 (EST)
      • Michael Milhoan's birthdate is given on his IMDb profile. What are the other sources? I want to note it on his discussion page for future ref.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:15, 12 January 2009 (EST)
        • I can't remember at this point. But I certainly didn't have a year back then, so it seems that whatever was once unverified has been verified since--and with more exact information, one would assume. I'll go ahead and add the date that's listed at IMDb. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 14:52, 12 January 2009 (EST)

Namespace

Could you remind Traphik94 not to create characters in the main namespace? He created about 4 characters in the last hour, all in the main article namespace, after being told to create them in user namespace. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 19:59, 12 January 2009 (EST)

More than one--he's either not reading his talk page, doesn't understand his talk page, or is ignoring his talk page. Hey Ryan, Long time no chat my friend...here are the details to the new mag...not sure who updates that section.

Heroes Mag Issue 8 - With Ali Larter and Kristen Bell cover The ODI 15:47, 14 January 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks, ODI. Yeah, it's been awhile! :) I don't receive the magazine, and I don't usually update the magazine's article. But it should be updated. Season Histories

Hi Ryan, I seem to be popping up a lot lately but, anyway, I was thinking about the character toolbar, I think it would be a good idea to put in a Season Histories Icon in it leading to a season histories portal. (If not on the character toolbar I think there should at least be a seasons histories portal). I would be willing to make all of this. Thanks --Irony 16:56, 14 January 2009 (EST)

  • What character toolbar are you referring to? This one? Where do you suggest we link the season histories? -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:00, 14 January 2009 (EST)
    • Sorry about that, I was actually referring to this one, I think it would be quite useful to have them all together. --Irony 17:04, 14 January 2009 (EST)
      • No worries. I'm not sure how we would link multiple character histories from multiple seasons (and growing!) on that navbar. Are you thinking portals? That seems redundant. Would it be easier to make a navbar (similar to template:characternav) to go at the bottom of each of the character's season history subpages? That way they'd all be linked from each other. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:09, 14 January 2009 (EST)
        • I think so too, do you want me to do it? (I have to go now but if you want I'll get round to it tomorrow) --Irony 17:11, 14 January 2009 (EST)
          • Yeah, that works. If you need help, let me know. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:18, 14 January 2009 (EST)
          • You know, probably the best thing to do is to just amend template:season archive footer. It's already at the bottom of every season history page, so it will greatly minimize the amount of edits. In fact, the only edit it will require is adding to the template. -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 22:29, 14 January 2009 (EST)

blocked account

hello I am currently writing a heroes novel and was wondering if I could put my characters on this website, seeing as its the only one that allows me to do that. So if I could put them up here without getting my IP address blocked, that would be great. Traphik94 17:09, 14 January 2009

  • The pages you've created so far seem very cool, and very in depth. Awesome job. You are more than welcome to create the pages here at Heroes Wiki--however, please create them in the user namespace. That means each page should start with "User:Traphik94/", like User:Traphik94/Daniel Park. Also, please take care to not create a bunch of red links on your pages. If they are red links that direct to your user pages, that's fine--but if they are red links that link to pages called "NAME OF EPISODE" or "Traphik94/Daniel Park (disambig)", that's not good. All this has been explained to you on your talk page. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. I don't think you meant any harm by creating red links or by creating pages in the main namespace (i.e. without your username in front of the title of the article), but you were either ignoring or not understanding your talk page. I never blocked your IP address, but I did block your account for a day as that was the only way I could think to get your attention. It seems to have worked. :) Good luck with your writing (hint: feel free to use Category:Fan Fiction at the bottom of each page you create), and if you have any questions, I'm on the site quite often, and there are a bunch of other people here who would be willing to help you out. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 17:19, 14 January 2009 (EST)

big surprise

Yeah, I want your help again. Or rather, your advice. What do you think is the best way to format this? I experimented around a bit, but nothing I've tried look right. What do you think? -- Tristan0709 talk 23:41, 14 January 2009 (EST)

  • Take out the Episodes column, and make that a ==heading==. Then you'll be left with three columns. The rest looks good. It'll be a lot of work, though! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (new comment) 23:46, 14 January 2009 (EST)
    • Done. Look any better? I'm only going to do it when I'm not doing anything else, so it will take ages. -- Tristan0709 talk 00:23, 15 January 2009 (EST)
