Character History
Season One
For an episode-by-episode summary, see Nicholas Hayden: Season One History.
Nick Hayden discovers his ability when he opens an article about New York on Wikipedia and appears there. Finding an exploding man, a comic and the explosion leads Nick on a journey with his friend, Tom, who now believes that Nick has a special power. They travel to America.
Landing in Las Vegas, NV, they see many strange events, such as a man landing outside of a diner, when Nick finds Hiro, someone he saw in the future. Nick and Tom visit Isaac and, with his help, start searching for Kirby Plaza, helping a woman along the way. Once there, they are knocked out by Thompson and brought to Primatech Paper Co., which he and Tom manage to escape from, hiding in the Burnt Toast Diner as cover. Remaining inside, they witness Charlie's murder, and learn of a cheerleader from two men. Nick goes back in time to help.
Six months ago, Nick meets Gabriel in Gray & Sons and they become fast friends, as Nick reads Activating Evolution. Nick minds the shop while Gabriel is away, and meets Isaac again, only to leave to try and save Charlie, who has been saved by Hiro. Defeated, he returns to the present, and he and Tom return to Primatech, where they are, again, knocked out by Thompson.
Two weeks later, Nick escapes from Primatech, seeing Gabriel again, when he learns that Tom has returned to Manchester. Nick returns to New York, and gets a call from Tom, arranging a meeting with him. He then gets an apartment from Simone. Afterwards, he meets Tom at the Los Angeles International Airport and try to go to Kirby Plaza again, only for terrorists to take control of the bus. Nick thwarts them, yet they arrive in Odessa, TX, where they witness a house explode. They manage to return to New York, when they see Gabriel kill Isaac. In fear, the two travel to the future, where they meet with their future selves, only for Nick to be imprisoned. He tricks Future Tom into letting him escape, and he meets with Tom again, returning to the present.
Returning to Isaac Mendez's loft as they follow Hiro, they find Gabriel's paintings, and Nick figures that Ted is the exploding man, deciding to kill him to save the world. They arrive at Kirby Plaza, and are knocked out by Thompson. Waking up in the Kirby Plaza building, they escape using Tom's telepathy, and they wait outside at Kirby Plaza. However, they get the final issue and see Hiro stabbing Gabriel, and leave to warn him at Isaac's loft. Finding a painting of Gabriel battling another man at Kirby Plaza, they rush back there, but the explosion happens. Suddenly, the Company sends agents to arrest Nick and Tom, but Nick disappears and lands outside Kyoto, Japan in 1671 behind Kensei as an eclipse occurs.
Season Two
For an episode-by-episode summary, see Nicholas Hayden: Season Two History.
Trapped in 1671 with no hopes of escaping, Nick retreats from the infamous battle, and arrives at a burning Otsu, Japan, saving a woman called Ryoko. Escaping through Japan, they are surrounded by bandits, whom they escape from, only for Ryoko to abandon him out of fear. Eventually, he realises that Hiro has, once again, beaten him to the quest, and teleports out of the past, returning to the present at New Orleans, LA.
He meets Monica Dawson, whom helps him satisfy his hunger with free food, eventually falling asleep when Burger Bonanza is nearly robbed by a criminal. Nick decides it is too dangerous, and leaves for the airport to return to Manchester, when he accidentally arrives in Philadelphia, PA. Not willing to go back on the plane, he spends the night in a flat, when he is suddenly trapped in a nightmare, which he eventually escapes thanks to some help.
He returns to Manchester and meets with his friends, Tom, Andy and Alex, whom all have special abilities (telepathy, phasing and telekinesis), but as they start catching up on old times, Nick accidentally time travels with Tom and Alex one year into the future in New York City, where they meet with Future Andy. Learning of a deadly virus that will wipe out most of humanity, they go back in time to stop it.
Winding up in the middle of a battle in the Company, they are each single-handedly knocked unconscious by a super strong woman, although they wake up the next day. Deciding to return home once more, they wind up in Searsmont, ME, and witness the murder of a woman by two men while learning of the virus's location - Primatech Paper Co.. Nick and Tom recognise the name, and they teleport immediately there, arriving at the vault, when the two men catch up with them and have a showdown with Hiro, Matt and another. Finally, they accept that others have beaten them in their journey, when they accidentally teleport in front of a familiar face - Gabriel.
The Second Coming
Nick, Tom and Alex watch on as Gabriel stands, ready to move to his next destination. Nick tries to catch Gabriel's attention, but he is flung against the wall, alongside Alex and Tom. He starts to cut open Tom's head, when Nick reaches out to him, teleporting them both out of the alleyway and leaving Alex behind.
Now standing in Tokyo, Japan admist a crowd escaping, Nick and Tom try to work out what exactly is going on, when they look up and see Hiro and Ando arguing about a "formula". Nick, not wanting to hear more of Hiro's babble, tries to leave, but Tom convinces him to stay. Nick watches his nemesis get killed by Ando. Suddenly, the world explodes around them, and they quickly escape back into the past.
They wind up in Costa Verde, CA, and decide to gather themselves before moving on, when Gabriel exits the house. Hiding behind a wall, Nick realises that Alex is no longer there, when Tom hears Gabriel, who knows that they are hiding. Nick stops time and moves back further when a car pulls up behind them.
The Butterfly Effect
Nick and Tom watch an ensuing battle, resulting in the deaths of two agents, when Gabriel focuses his attention on them. Not wanting to enter another battle, Nick recants that Gabriel is one of his friends, and they quickly teleport out of the streets.
Reappearing in an abandoned cell, which has been broken out of, they wander out, when Nick points out the 5 on the wall. A matriarch wanders by, giving them a quick glance, before entering a cell. Tom convinces Nick that they have to leave, when they overhear a conversation between the woman and Gabriel - Nick finds out that Gabriel has a new persona, Sylar, and that the woman is his mother. He and Tom sit down, dumbfounded.
Graphic Novel:Dreams Until Death
Nick and Tom watch the battle between Gael Cruz, Bianca Karina and Sylar, as they search for an opportune exit out of the area, while Tom reminds Nick that he can teleport them out.
One of Us, One of Them
Nick and Tom, while trying to figure out what Gabriel's mother has to do with everything, suddenly hear the screams of a woman, followed by Angela walking away. In fear and worry, Nick grabs Tom, transporting them across the city.
Finding themselves in a bank, Nick and Tom decide to take a moment to try and figure everything out, while playing a game of tic tac toe on an available sheet of paper. As Tom is about to win the match (infuriating Nick), a group of four men suddenly burst in, shutting the blinds and creating fire. Worried for their lives, Nick and Tom decide to duck with the crowds.
One of the men takes away Nick and Tom's mobile phones, when they see a scarred man demanding that they stop. Nick tries to crawl away in this moment, but the man stops him. As Tom readies to kick him, an FBI agent strolls in, being captured by the group of villains. Nick whispers to Tom that he has to be saved before he is killed, but Tom reminds him that if he tries, he should stop time first. Nick remembers his power.
Before he can use it, a fight breaks out between two of the villains, when time stops. Nick stands up and watches another scarred man punch his past self out of the first scarred man, and transport them both into the future. Nick grabs Tom, tells him that they have a new desination, and give pursuit.
I Am Become Death
Four years in the future, Nick and Tom fall from the skies up above, when they are saved by a gracious flying businessman. Taken to the ground, the businessman waves the duo off and flies away, confusing the pair. Nick concludes that he must be an evolved human, when Tom points upwards. Nick looks and sees the world for what is it - covered in evolved humans.
Escaping, they realise that they are in Manchester, when Tom suggests that they go to his house. Teleporting straight inside, Tom sees that his bedroom is completely empty as Nick runs downstairs, and sees a familiar face sleeping on Tom's couch - Future Nick.
Seeing the life Future Nick is living (Future Nick now owns Tom's cat, Eric), they realise that something is amiss, when Future Nick discusses how the world is destined for doom. Before he has a chance to explain, an agent bursts in, whom Nick and Tom recognise as their friend, Ashley, when he ignites his hand and sets fire to the house. Future Nick orders them to leave, when he is knocked out by an invisible source, whom materialises and becomes another friend, J. Nick and Tom, realising that the future is darker than they imagined, try to escape the building, when Ashley throws Tom onto the couch, readying a final blow. When Tom asks why Ashley is doing this, he simply replies "to preserve history".
With options becoming more and more limited each time, Tom struggles when he hits the remote, switching on the news and revealing that Costa Verde, CA has been destroyed. Confused by this turn of events, Nick takes a moment to ask about Future Tom - Future Ashley states that Future Tom is still in the University of Manchester, which astounds both Nick and Tom, since they are still in Stretford Grammar School. Nick notices a strange ring Future J is wearing (with the initials T.H.S. on it), when he realises that they must return to the past. Grabbing Tom as quickly as possible, they teleport out of Tom's house, leaving the agents behind. Future Andy walks in and wonders where Nick and Tom have gone.
Returning to his school in Manchester, Andy scolds them for leaving him on his own. He demands to be taken on their next adventure. Nick agrees with him, and they slowly leave the school, when they pass a businessman, whom focuses his attentions on J.
Angels and Monsters
In his home, Nick tells Andy about the impending future, and Andy agrees that it must be stopped. Tom says about how so far, in America, they have been beaten, nearly vaporised and almost telekinetically scalped, although Nick attempts to assure him that these crimes will never happen again. Although wary, Tom agrees, and Nick grabs both him and Andy, teleporting them straight out of Manchester.
The trio appear outside Reed Street, which Tom and Nick remember as Isaac's living arrangement. Knowing that his former best friend has abandoned it, Nick, Tom and Andy decide to try and take it as their own residence instead, only to find a laboratory within. As Nick tries to figure this out, Tom hears the thoughts of a man asking for help. As Tom rushes inside to help him, Nick and Andy hear the door open, and quickly teleport out of the laboratory in fear, while Tom rushes to hide behind a wall.
Nick and Andy find themselves in a house filled with puppets, freaking them both out completely, when they see a hairy man eating dinner with a beautiful woman. Andy's emotions lose control, as he believes they are in Tom Jones' house, while Nick realises that he has lost two friends already and will not lose another to his own madness.
Dying of the Light
Nick and Andy refuse to ask any more questions about the weirdness of the situation, and focus their attentions to getting Tom back from Reed Street. Andy grabs Nick, and they phase out of the theatre without any problems, although Nick accidentally bumps into a puppet, knocking several things over and creating a loud noise.
Wandering aimlessly through the streets without any directive, Nick finally relents and shouts towards the sky in anger, having been defeated in his own quest to save the entire world. He expects Andy to give him words of wisdom, but instead finds Andy looking at his beard in a mirror. Sighing, Nick and Andy are suddenly blown back as a woman stands.
She tells them that her name is Daphne and gives Nick a business card for the Pinehearst Company. He asks her about it, but she tells him to call the number instead, and briefly mentions her next destination as Reed Street. Nick tells her that Reed Street is where he and Andy are going. Nick grabs Andy, then Daphne grabs Nick, as they quickly rush through the streets, knocking several people over (because Andy pushed them along the way).
Now at Reed Street, Nick and Andy talk about everything that has happened while Daphne visits the resident within, when she comes out afterwards and warns them of him, then leaves. Slightly startled by this news, Nick suggests waiting until nightfall, while Andy phases his head into the room and sees Tom cocooned. Andy agrees with Nick, and they wait, when they hear a loud noise hitting the wall. Now worried for his friend, Nick vows to save him.
Eris Quod Sum
Nick asks for Andy's help, which he agrees to, grabbing Nick and phasing the two through a wall into Reed Street. Inside, they find only two scared survivors, one of which Nick remembers as Jessica, confusing her. She explains that she is Tracy, when Nick sees the man and remembers him as the "flying man", causing him to grin. The man introduces himself as Nathan, and comments that Hiro Nakamura calls him the "flying man", angering Nick to no end. Nick sees Andy phasing and rescuing Tom from his cocoon. Tracy helps Nick and Andy attend to Tom, when Nick remembers a business card he received - Pinehearst Company. He tells Tracy that he is taking Tom there for assistance, grabs Andy, and teleports.
Nick and Andy, holding Tom up, appear outside Pinehearst, and they walk inside the building, wanting help for Tom. A doctor sees their injured friend, and takes him away, telling Nick and Andy to wait outside. As they sit in the corridor, a Hispanic woman sees the trouble their friend is in, and offers her sympathies, then walks away.
After an hour, Tom finally wakes up, and Nick and Andy check up on him, when a familiar face joins them in the room - Alex. Nick comments on the badge Alex is wearing, when Alex telekinetically slams Nick into a wall, demanding to know why he was left behind in the alleyway. Nick fails to come up with an explanation, when Alex stops, causing Nick to drop to the floor, choking for air. Alex talks about how he became a member of Pinehearst after Daphne gave him food, water and a place to stay. Nick tries convincing Alex to leave Pinehearst and return back to Manchester with the rest, which Alex agrees to, carrying Tom out with them.
As they start walking outside, they heard a loud noise behind them, as two girls pass by. Quickly, Nick, Alex, Tom and Andy check them out, then they decide to return back to Manchester via plane, when Tom hears the thoughts of a friend - J is watching them leave.
Villains
Nick waits around in Gray & Sons when Gabriel enters and demands that he leave. Nick quickly rushes out the store as Gabriel looks at a post-it note.
It's Coming
Nick and his band of friends reach the New Jersey Airport, buying plane tickets, when Andy asks Nick why they are not teleporting straight to Manchester. Nick explains that he can only teleport, at maximum, two other people at the same time, and three is pushing it. Alex calls Nick lazy. They receive their tickets for gate nine.
Reaching the doorway to gate nine, Tom hears the thoughts of two of their friends. Ashley and J, revealing that they have been following them for some time, block their entrances to the plane. Andy offers to phase straight through them, but Nick orders that they escape. Attempting to retreat as fast as possible, their paths are prevented by a sudden fire, and each are knocked out by an invisibile J.
Nick wakes up in an empty room, chained to the floor. His attempts to use his ability prove futile, as he figures that his cell is blocking his power. Shouting for somebody to free him from his dungeon, the door suddenly bursts open, shocking Nick at the sight of the man - Gabriel. Gabriel releases him from his bonds, apologises for all of his previous attacks, reveals that he is on the path to redemption, leaving Nick dumbfounded. He catches up with Gabriel, and asks for his help to save his friends. Together, they release Alex, Tom and Andy from their cells. Gabriel asks for Nick never to speak of this moment again.
Nick, Tom, Andy and Alex decide to try and destroy Pinehearst from within, officially recognising themselves as Team Annihilation.
The Eclipse, Part 1
The newly founded members of Team Annihilation wander out of Pinehearst, when, without warning, their path is blocked by a stern-faced man. Nick demands to know his name, and he calls himself Arthur, but states that he cannot let them leave. Alex lifts his hand, but Arthur slams it back down. Tom tries to read his mind, but Arthur fights back. Andy decides to take the high road and phases out of the entire building. Nick manages to stop time, when he realises that Arthur also has the ability. He asks Arthur how he is capable of doing this, but Arthur refuses to explain. Without hesitation, Nick grabs both Alex and Tom, and teleports away.
Reappearing in a comic book store in Lawrence, KS, Tom orders Nick to retrieve Andy. Nick relents, and tries to teleport, when the store suddenly turns dark, and he fails to do what he has done many times before. Tom and Alex shout at Nick, but he realises that his ability is gone. Alex attempts to throw Nick across the room in annoyance, but also comes to that conclusion. Tom believes that the end is nigh.
Worried for their friend, Nick tells Tom and Alex that they need to figure out where they are, and, as Tom sees Hiro and Ando enter the store, Nick sees issue eight of a comic book on the shelf as, which has a picture of him, Tom, Andy and Alex facing Arthur. Remembering back to the comic he found in the future, he realises that Isaac created it, and the art is prophetic. Alex snatches it away, and skips to the end, revealing the final panel - Alex dead.
The Eclipse, Part 2
Nick flips through the comic to figure out how Alex dies, when Tom tells Nick that Matt and a strangely hot woman have entered the store. Nick, not looking up, manages to find a page depicting himself reading the comic, only to see the next panel involving his two friends, Ashley and J, stood around the corner. Nick tells Alex and Tom that they need to leave immediately, and, taking the comic with them, exit the store.
Outside, Nick hands Alex the 9th Wonders! issue, which he reads, telling Nick that he will be knocked unconscious by Ashley, when Ashley hits him over the head with a brick, knocking him out. Nick and Tom realise the deadliness of the situation, and Nick tries to reason with J. J explains that, with funding from Pinehearst, that he and Ashley can create their own organisation - the History Society. Nick and Tom nod to each other, and attempt to take Alex back from the two agents, but Ashley kicks Tom in the hand, while J drags Nick away.
Nick tries to fight J off, but he manages to hit Nick a few more times, when Ashley knocks Tom unconscious and tells J that they can take Alex to Pinehearst for "rehabilitation". J and Ashley escape in a van with Alex, leaving Nick stood with an unconscious Tom. As Nick tries to think of a strategy, Tom sits up and tells him that his strategy is idiotic. Tom and Nick look up - the eclipse is over and they have their abilities once again. Nick grabs Tom, and they disappear.
They wind up at the bottom of a building, where Tom hears people on the roof thinking about a girl called Claire and a man named Claude. Nick wonders about their current location, and teleports to the roof, leaving Tom behind. Hiding behind a wall, Nick witnesses a man receive a baby girl from a businessman, when he sees a familiar face at the other side - Hiro Nakamura.
Our Father
Nick tries to work out how to deal with the situation, when he sees businessman turn around and quickly teleports back to the bottom of the building. Tom asks him what is happening, and Nick tells him that an adoption is taking place, leaving Tom confused as to the adoption's significance. Nick reveals that he saw Hiro at the other side of the rooftop, and he and Tom agree to sneak around the building for the other time traveller.
Stumbling around inside, Nick and Tom bicker over the fates of Alex and Andy, with Tom believing them to be in mortal danger, while Nick has every faith that they will survive. As they argue back-and-forth, Nick bumps straight into the businessman and accidentally knocks him over. Helping him back up, the businessman demands to know what Nick and Tom are doing inside. Quickly, Nick covers and claims that they were "going to talk to the chef". The businessman glares at them and allows them to find the chef.
Rushing straight into the kitchen, Nick and Tom find a complete mess across the counters, when Tom asks Nick what they are still doing in the building as they have literally found nothing at all. Nick suggests that they take a few hours to relax, as they will not have another chance before something else happens to send them into another apocalyptic battle. Sitting down next to the counter, Nick and Tom talk about the good times they had before their abilities appeared.
As night falls, Nick tells Tom that they should return to the present as they have uncovered nothing, when Arthur appears in front of them. Standing up immediately, Tom tries to protect his friend while Nick grabs Tom's shoulder. Arthur throws Tom backwards and knocks him unconscious. Arthur explains that he must know where the catalyst is, but Nick reassures him that he does not know. As Arthur ponders this, Nick grabs Tom and returns to the present.
Dual
Nick and Tom appear in Primatech Research, finding themselves with a security guard watching the cameras. The guard quickly aims his gun at the pair, and Nick tries to explain himself peacefully, when the guard simply accepts their sudden appearance without question. Tom explains that he used his telepathy, and Nick thanks him. Watching the security cameras, Nick and Tom notice a girl appear in the corridor, and Nick recognises her from a few days ago. Curious, Nick and Tom walk out of the room, when Sylar opens the door, greets them, and flings them into walls. Nick tries to make Sylar remember his humanity he showed back in Pinehearst, but Sylar simply ignores him. Nick manages to stop time and release himself from the grip, grabbing Tom and teleporting away.
Appearing inside another room of Primatech Research, Nick looks out of the door window when he notices Ashley walk through the corridors. Nick tells Tom of this, and Tom bursts out of the door, grabbing Ashley unawares. Ashley tazers Tom, causing him to fall onto the ground, as Nick chases after him. J turns visible behind Nick, holding him hostage. Ashley punches Nick, knocking him unconscious.
Awakening in a room, Nick glances around and notices Tom, Andy and Alex tied up onto slabs. Ashley and J walk into the room shortly afterwards, as Ashley rants about how his vision - his dream - for a world without abilities is the most important thing in the world. Nick notices J's reactions to Ashley's rants, and concludes that J actually wants the opposite - he wants everybody to have abilities. Before Nick can give any reason to this, Alex breaks out and throws Ashley and J into the walls, knocking the pair unconscious. Alex releases everybody from their straps, when Ashley manages to awaken, pulls out a gun, and shoots Alex, killing him. Andy and Tom haul Ashley to his feet, as Andy kicks Ashley through the door. Nick manages to teleport J out of the building, as he, Andy and Tom work together to figure out how to bring Alex from the dead.
Stepping out of the room, Nick realises that Ashley has escaped, when a hurtling explosion lunges through the corridors. Nick jumps backwards, managing to grab both Andy and Tom and teleporting out of the building, as Andy grabs Alex's corpse.
Now outside, the members of Team Annihilation appear near a man, the girl and an older woman. The girl notices Alex's corpse, as Nick, Tom and Andy watch as the man passes the girl a syringe. The girl then injects her blood into Alex, and he returns to life. Nick, Tom, Andy and Alex celebrate their surprising victory over their enemies, when Nick wonders where he placed J.
A Clear and Present Danger
Nick and Tom sit around in Tom's house, playing Final Fantasy X, when Tom starts talking about their adventures back in New York and the destructions of Primatech and Pinehearst. Nick recalls that the two destructions were downplayed in the news, despite the size of the blazes. The PlayStation 2 crashes, and Tom switches it off in anger, allowing the television to switch to the news. Nick and Tom witness an interview with Senator Nathan Petrelli, where he declares his intentions regarding national security. Nick and Tom remember Nathan from their collective journeys. Nick suggests that they grab a Subway sandwich, and Tom agrees. Nick grabs Tom, and they teleport out of the house, when Special Forces bursts through the door to try and collect the pair.
Nick and Tom appear in a mysteriously empty back room, as Tom complains to Nick about the place not being Subway. Nick opens the door to look outside, and sees several people covered in hoods, surrounding by Special Forces. Nick tells Tom about the situation, and asks for solutions. Tom suggests using his telepathy to wipe the minds of every single guard on board, when Nick notices the girl removing a hood off one of the fugitives, revealing him to be Hiro Nakamura, surprising Nick. Nick tells Tom about Hiro, when he notices two men. Tom sees the men for himself, and tells Nick that the second man was his former captor. The girl releases the first man from his shackles, when Tom concentrates his telepathy, distracting one of the guards, whom is subsequently knocked unconscious by the girl. Nick decides to walk out and help the man, when, during the confusion, the man freezes the wall. Nick and Tom at first believe there is no problem, when they notice the wall crack, followed by the outside world. Realising they are on a plane, Nick and Tom hang onto the sides for their lives.
Trust and Blood
Nick awakens in the middle of a dense forest, trying to grasp the situation, when he realises that he is on his own, with Tom nowhere to be seen. Standing himself up, he looks out into the distance, noticing the Special Forces searching for him. In a snap decision, Nick runs through the forests as quickly as possible, only to slip and crash onto his back. The Special Forces members surround him, knock him unconscious, and drag him away.
Nick wakes up inside a building surrounded by guards, and quickly establishes that he has been tied to a chair. Nick glances around the room, noticing himself to be the only captive within the room, and decides to try and escape. He closes his eyes and disappears before the guards notice him.
Appearing in the middle of the crash site, Nick attempts to flee the scene, only to fall onto the ground, as he has teleported with the chair still attached to him. Special Forces surround him, when they notice their leader pointing his gun at the girl. Nick looks over and, as they are distracted once more, begins to struggle with the ropes. Eventually, Nick manages to free his hands, and works on releasing his feet, when the leader steps over to Nick. The leader claims to be the hero of the piece as soldiers lift Nick back onto his chair. The leader continues taunting Nick as one of his soldiers injects Nick, knocking him unconscious.
Building 26
Dragged into Building 26, Nick is thrown into an empty cell with only a bed, as he regains consciousness. Struggling to comprehend how he ended up inside another prison cell, Nick walks over to the door and tries to open it, ultimately failing. His attempts to teleport out of the room prove fruitless, as he smells the air, realising that an inhibitor is being sprayed into the room, preventing him from using his abilities.
Several hours later, Nick continues pushing against the door, when he finds it suddenly unlocked. Looking out into the corridors, Nick breathes in the fresh air, then stumbles around the building, trying to find the exit, when he finds a man being smashed to pieces by a woman. In the confusion as the agents apprehend the woman, Nick eases his way into the background and continues his search.
Entering the main room, Nick realises that he is out in the open, and freezes time. Walking through the office space, Nick stands in front of the wanted board, seeing familiar faces such as Matt and Sylar, when he notices Tom, Andy and Alex are also on the noticeboard. Realising that any of the three could be in imminent danger, and realising that Tom was lost in the crash, Nick escapes from Building 26 in order to search for the members of Team Annihilation, allowing time to unfreeze.
Cold Wars
Checking into a hotel, Nick steps into his room and crashes on the bed, tired from his constant escapes, and tries to fall asleep. He lies in bed, staring at the ceiling, when he overhears an argument in the other room between four male voices. Nick almost decides to pound his hand onto the wall in order to get himself some rest, but decides against it.
Eventually drifting himself to sleep, Nick suddenly bolts himself awake when he hears the sound of glass breaking coming from the other room. Angrily, Nick climbs out of his bed, storms out of his room, and stands outside of his neighbour's door. Before he can knock, he hears footsteps reaching the door, and quickly hides behind a corner, scared to confront the people within.
A few minutes pass, and Nick looks out from behind the corner, noticing a man descend onto a car, dragging a businessman out of the vehicle. Nick, slightly worried that his neighbour is a kidnapper, almost contacts the authorities, when he remembers his fugitive status.
Rushing back into his hotel room, Nick closes the door behind him, locking the door and hiding behind the bed, hoping that the day will end quickly. Attempting to plot his next movement, his thought process is broken when somebody kicks open the door. Nick closes his eyes and disappears seconds before a soldier grabs him.
Exposed
Nick appears in the middle of Building 26, and quickly hides behind a wall as two agents pass him. Nick tries to figure out the next step in his plan, and looks around the corner, noticing the two agents close the doors on the main control room. Using this as a temporary diversion, Nick runs through the halls, and stops outside another room, where an employee is eating his lunch. Nick quickly moves on from this.
Eventually finding the exit, Nick steps out of Building 26 and onto the streets, where he stops to try and gather his surroundings, attempting to figure out his role in the plot and how the Special Forces discovered the identities of Team Annihilation. Suddenly, Nick receives a call on his mobile phone from Tom, and answers. Tom requests to meet Nick at Kirby Plaza. Nick teleports straight to the location.
Nick meets with Tom at Kirby Plaza, and Tom explains that he had to travel several miles to reach the monument. They turn to a television store, where they witness a news report dedicated to the kidnapping of the evolved humans, and Tom expresses his belief that the whole ordeal is coming to an end. Suddenly, several Special Forces soldiers surround the pair and Nick, thinking quickly, grabs Tom and disappears.
The duo reappear in Washington, DC, where they immediately dodge a van and land on the ground. The van drives away, and Nick and Tom look on in horror as they notice Matt covered in explosives.

Nick's case file (password: NHbszr48p) at primatechpaper.com contains a personal history about Nick:
Nick was an "ordinary" person who attended his local secondary high school until he discovered his ability to manipulate the space-time continuum, which manifested when he teleported into an alternate future where an explosion occured, wiping out New York City.
He soon visited America with his friend, Tom Millward (see C019), and saw former congressional candidate Nathan Petrelli, and met with painter Isaac Mendez (see C009). Nick was bagged and tagged by the Company, but he assaulted Thompson and escaped with Tom to another destination. His ability has, as a consequence, given him delusions of grandeur, as he has a firm belief that he can save the world. This is evident when he attempted to save Charlie Andrews (see C007).
Nick was apprehended by the Company again and monitored for two weeks until he managed to escape once again, immediately arranging a meeting with Tom. Their traces became unnoticable for a short time, until they were spotted in Odessa, Texas after the destruction of agent Noah Bennet's house. Eventually caught at Kirby Plaza, both Nick and Tom successfully eluded top agents and escaped from New York City. He is currently still a student, but his whereabouts are unknown.
When last under Company care, Nick Hayden was still at the beginning of his ability's manifestation, although he has some control over his teleportation destinations. It is recommended that close watch be kept on him at all times.
The case file also contains a psychological profile:
Nick viewed himself as an ordinary, if out-of-place, person attempting to keep up with the educational system. He was lazy, and had no motivation within his life. His sloth-like nature was remarked upon frequently, which drove him to near-insanity and caused several problems within his life. He also avoided asking questions, as he believed that asking questions made him look like he was not paying attention. He found a calmness when he reached the age of sixteen and became more sociable - it is unknown why this happened.
The manifestation of his ability made numerous changes to his life for the better - he learnt of an alternate future and vowed to save the world; he started to ask others to help him in his quest, and he dragged himself out of his slothful behaviour. His moral compass has not been affected by others' influences, and he always strives to do the right thing. The only time this is not the case is whenever he happens to meet Gabriel Gray (see C004), whom he believes to be friends with.
It's recommended to keep close tabs, especially if he manifests additional abilities or falls under the sway of someone who may pose harmful to The Company and its work.
