Ability alteration
Peter Petrelli obtains flight from Nathan.

Ability alteration occurs when a known ability has it's effects limited from or exceeding the original capacity of the ability in the same evolved human. This change can be due to previous ability loss and reintroduction through various methods, or special manifestations of power brought on by spirit walks.

About

Dual

After struggling with Flint Gordon while destroying the rest of the perfected formula with Peter, Mohinder is bathed in a pool of the formula, which promptly reverses the negative affects of his incomplete formula. His ability was then manifested as enhanced strength (previously mohinder's ability).

Dual

Peter injects himself with a sample of the formula after being depowered by Arthur to save his brother. After he injected himself, he was able to use flight and fly from the exploding building with Nathan. In A Clear and Present Danger, Peter is shown demonstrating a variation of ability mimicry, mimicking an ability only after touching another evolved human. (previously empathic mimicry)

Cold Snap

While searching for Matt Parkman, Hiro and Ando are caught in a sting operation to capture Matt Parkman, Jr. perpetrated by the United States Government under Danko's command. baby Matt touches Hiro, granting him time manipulation. (previously space-time manipulation)

Examples:

1. Hiro Nakamura had his space-time manipulation removed by Arthur Petrelli's power absorption. It was then partially restored as the less powerful time-manipulation by Matt Parkman, Jr. using his ability.
2. Peter Petrelli had his empathic mimicry removed by his father's ability. After injecting himself with the genetic modification formula, he retained the less powerful ability replication.
3. Matt Parkman, a telepath, gains precognition after accessing a plane of consciousness introduced by Usutu.
