Precognitive dreaming is the ability to see the future through dreams.

Limits
In order to see and dream the future, this ability requires the user to be unconscious. It is not known, however, if the user can activate this ability at will: the only known examples of Angela using this ability is a dream she had while riding in a taxi (The Butterfly Effect), while Peter has unknowingly accessed this ability several times.
It is not clear whether or not this ability allows the user to see the present or the past. Peter claims he dreamt about Nathan's accident as it happened (Genesis), but it is possible that he was dreaming the very near future.
There appears to be slight differences between the dream and the actual events. Whether this is related to inexperience, the future being changed, how far in the future the event takes place, or simply a natural consequence of the power is unknown.
