Julien is replicated numerous times. | |

| Ability to: | Create vast numbers of exact copies of oneself |
Replication is the ability to create vast numbers of exact copies of oneself.
Characters
- Evan has this ability.
- Julien Dumont has this ability.
Limits
Evan
Evan can create several duplicates of himself, and claims to be able to create thousands. The duplicates physically emerge from his body. They are all capable of independent thought and action, and each is apparently capable of producing his own duplicates.
Evan's imperfections are cloned, as well. For instance, Evan has a scar over his right eye. Every one of Evan's replicants has the same scar.
Evan's ability also duplicates most of the clothes he is wearing and the weapons he is carrying. Evan's duplicates usually appear without his hat, implying that he has some control over what objects are duplicated. Some of the clothes on Evan's replicants appear to be different, indicating he may be able to alter the items he duplicates or duplicate items that he is not wearing or touching. Whether or not the ability can be used to duplicate other living things is unknown.
Adam Monroe believes that if he kills the true Evan, the "source" of the duplicates, then all the duplicates will die as well. However, it is unclear if this is true.
It is also unknown as to whether the source and his duplicates are able to merge themselves back together, or if they remain permanently separated.
Julien Dumont
Julien Dumont, known as the "root" to the Company, has a similar ability. About a dozen of his duplicates have been shown, but it is not known as to whether they can also produce their own duplicates. However, at least some of the clones do not agree with the Company's directive and went rogue. A big bag and tag mission was conducted in 2007 to hunt down and collect many of these rogue clones, and to confine them in a cell at Primatech Research. The root's loyalty towards the Company is unknown, but the root is shown confined with tubes and monitoring equipment attached to his body in a laboratory at Primatech Research.
The clones look almost identical to Julien, but it unknown as to whether imperfections are also cloned. The duplicate pretending to be Sabine's partner claims that the root can sense the location of his duplicates, and feels a pain--like a limb being torn off--when one of the root's duplicates dies. He also says that the clones, or "branches", would not feel if the root died, only the root would feel it if the branches died.
The Company has told Sabine that if Julien Dumont dies, then all of his duplicates will die as well.
Examples
-
Adam works on killing a few Evans, but more appear.
-
As the pursuit continues, another one of Evan's replicants waits at the ready.
-
Each clone seems to be able to finish another clone's sentence.
-
Evan's duplicates emerge from other duplicates.
(Revolutionary War, Part 2) -
Several of Julien's duplicates are kept in a holding cell at Primatech Research.
(Root and Branch, Part 1) -
The Company keeps a replicating Julien attached to machines.
(Root and Branch, Part 2)
Memorable Quotes
"This was not a man who returned from death as I did...this was a man who died a thousand times while his brothers lived. A man who could replicate himself before my very eyes."
