Powers
The following are abilities that have been demonstrated in the Heroes world.
Adoptive muscle memory
Adoptive muscle memory, also referred to as muscle mimicry, is the ability to replicate any physical action after seeing it performed once. If this ability is trained more it can even help with replicating other abilities.
Examples:
- When Yoeri takes a shortcut home he is confronted by one of the companies' agents. As he ducks for cover he sees somebody rising up from the alleys of New York. As he watches the person taking off he is suddenly able to do the same... See here.
Alchemy
Alchemy is the ability to transform the chemical composition of materials.
Examples:
- Riddler transmutes a spoon into gold. See here.
Duplication
Duplication is the ability to create an exact copy of oneself.
Examples:
- Riddler tests his new duplication abilities and copies himself. See here.
Enhanced memory
Enhanced memory is the ability to remember...everything.
Examples:
- During an episode of The Post Show, RyanGibsonStewart remembers everything there is to know about Heroes. See the gallery.
Enhanced speed
Enhanced speed is the ability to move at speeds that are seemingly impossible.
Examples:
- Peter runs around a room. See here.
Flight
Flight is the ability to propel oneself through the air.
Examples:
- After seeing somebody using this ability, Yoeri replicates the ability with his power of adoptive muscle memory and escapes. See here.

Freezing
Freezing is the ability to remove heat from matter, reducing its temperature and causing it to freeze.
Examples:
- Peter chills his favorite mug. See the gallery.
Illusion
Illusion is the ability to manipulate how other people perceive reality.
Examples:
- Riddler creates an illusion to make himself appear as a dog. See here.
- Peter creates an illusion to change his clothes. See here.
- Peter creates an illusion to make himself appear as a woman. See here.
Induced radioactivity
Induced radioactivity is the ability to emit radiation and/or induce radioactive properties into objects and people.
Examples:
- After the events that occurred at school earlier on, Yoeri goes home to see what it was he did during science class. He finds out he can heat up molecules and emit radiation. See here.
Invisibility
Invisibility is the ability to walk in plain view of other people without being seen.
Examples:
- Riddler vanishes in his bedroom. See here.
- Peter vanishes in his kitchen and sits in a chair. See here.
Lightning
Lightning is the ability to create and direct electrical arcs.
Examples:
- Riddler makes a quick electrical arc. See here.
- Riddler lights up his room. See here.
- The Company sends yet another "charged" agent to retrieve an evolved human. He has great control over his power and can even preserve a ball of electricity. See here and here.
Luminescence
Luminescence is the ability to emit and control light from one's own body.
Examples:
Phasing
Phasing is the ability to move through solid matter.
Examples:
- After a mysterious world-wide sun eclipse, people notice that they have special abilities. In the Netherlands a boy discovers he can walk through walls. See here.
Plague emission
Plague emission brings death to those in close proximity when the holder is upset.
Examples:
- Bob gets upset, activating the ability. See the gallery.
Precognition
Precognition is the ability to accurately foresee future events.
Examples:
- Riddler sketches himself sketching the future. See the gallery.
- Riddler sketches a new message alert on Myspace. See the gallery.
Pyrokinesis
Pyrokinesis is the ability to create and control fire.
Examples:
- Riddler's hand acts as a lighter. See here.
- Riddler makes a flamethrower using rubbing alcohol and his fire. See here.
- Riddler's control of fire increases. See the gallery.
- Level's brother holds fire in his hands. See the gallery.
Space-time manipulation
Space-time manipulation is the ability to alter the space-time continuum.
Examples:

- Peter travels through time to give himself a message. See here.
Telekinesis
Telekinesis is the ability to move objects with the mind.

Genetic Manipulation
Genetic Manipulation is the ability to manipulate a person's genes, allowing one to activate certain traits and deactivate others.
Examples:
- Peter activates and deactivates his photokinesis. See here.

Narcokinesis
Narcokinesis is the ability to manipulate a person's sleep patterns, making them fall asleep or be unable to sleep at all.
Examples:
- Peter puts his friend to sleep. See here.
Pain Induction
Pain Induction is the ability to psionically stimulate feelings of pain in another person's brain without any physical contact.
Examples:
- Peter makes his friend's brain hurt, then his own. See here.
Rapid Gyration
Rapid Gyration is the ability to spin at extremely high speeds.
Examples:
- Peter spins extremely fast in one spot. See here.
Sciakinesis
Sciakinesis is the ability to control darkness and blend into shadows.
Examples:
- Peter darkens a room and then blends in. See here.
Tomatosis
Tomatosis is the ability to grow tomatoes out of nothing. This power would be useful when you're hungry.
Examples:
- Riddler makes some Grape Tomatoes appear out of nothing. See here.
