In particular, this article needs most of the info to be removed as it isn't even about Peter and Claire.

Claire visits Peter in his cell at the Odessa Sheriff's Department.

"Paire" is a fan-created word coined to describe the relationship between the two characters Peter Petrelli and Claire Bennet.

A future Hiro Nakamura travels back in time to visit Peter Petrelli on a crowded subway in New York City. Future Hiro stops time, and converses with Peter. After conversing with Peter for a moment, Hiro tells Peter that there is a message for him.

Future Hiro and Peter are still on the subway train. Hiro tells Peter that he doesn't have a lot of time, since he's risking a rift just being there. He tells Peter the message: "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Hiro tells Peter to go see Isaac because Isaac will understand. He also tells Peter that when Hiro calls, Peter needs to tell Hiro where to meet.

Later, Peter heads to Isaac's studio. Peter receives Hiro's call, and tells Hiro that there is a message for him.

Better Halves

Peter delivers his message to Hiro and Ando. He tells them, "Save the cheerleader, save the world." Ando asks where the cheerleader is, but neither Peter nor Isaac knows. Peter tells them about "Future Hiro" and that he was told to save the cheerleader. Peter tells the men from Tokyo to get to New York so they can find the cheerleader together, and then their conversation ends. Peter then fits Isaac's paintings together, realizing they're telling a story like a comic book. He points out that there is one painting missing, which Isaac says Simone has.

During the Union Wells Homecoming, Sylar arrives to kill the cheerleader who has the special abilities. However, upon entering the school, he sees a newspaper clipping about Jackie receiving an award for rescuing a man at the train wreck; Sylar assumes that Jackie is the cheerleader he wants. When he tracks the girls down in the locker room, he grabs Jackie by the throat and telekinetically opens her skull to obtain her brain. Jackie's last word to Claire is "run..."

Claire runs into Peter in the school halls as they are pursued by Sylar. They climb up the bleachers outside of the school as Peter and Sylar fight. As Claire manages to escape, both men fall off the top of the bleachers and are severely injured. When Claire arrives, Peter manages to mimic Claire's power to heal himself.

As she runs off, Peter calls out to Claire and asks if, in saving her, he's saved the world. She simply says, "I don't know. I'm just a cheerleader."

When Claire finally encounters her father she tells him that Peter saved her life and that they have to go back for him and is desperate to do so, but Noah stops her.

Claire tells her father of her powers. Meanwhile, a sick Peter is being interviewed at the local police station by Matt and Audrey. Upon discovering that Claire is not being protected at all from Sylar, he tries to convince the two that Claire is the one that Sylar is after. Peter insists, "If you want to protect someone, protect her."

Following Peter's advice, Matt and Audrey bring Claire in for questioning. When they finish up, Claire asks to see Peter. She is escorted to his holding cell, and asks when he found out she was like her. He responds, saying that he isn't like her. Mr. Bennet knocks on the door to signal that he and Claire should leave, and on her way out tells Peter, "You're totally my hero."

Near the end, when leaving the police station with Nathan, Peter collapses and has a prophetic vision in which Claire, among other the other evolved humans, runs up to him, mouths an apology, and runs away again.

Claire's birth mother calls Nathan Petrelli to tell him their daughter is alive. This means that Claire is Peter's niece.

Claire escapes from the Haitian and travels to New York to find Peter. She manages to reach his apartment, but the door is answered instead by Angela Petrelli, who reveals that she is Claire's grandmother.

After Peter temporarily dies, Claire mourns the loss of his life. She then reaches behind his head, pulls a large piece of glass out of his brain, and saves his life. They share a moment of tender thanks.

The Hard Part

Peter tries to convince Claire to stay with him in New York City. He builds her up by telling her she has the capability of saving the world. In an act reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet, Peter gives Claire a gun and asks her to use it to kill him if he ever gets out of control.

Trust and Blood

As Peter and Claire run from where the plane crashed, they are stopped by Noah, who points a gun at Peter. Claire convinces him to spare Peter, and Peter promptly runs off.

Turn and Face the Strange

Peter and Claire are both gathered at Coyote Sands by Angela Petrelli. They begin digging to uncover "the truth about what happened".

Peter and Claire work to help Angela find her sister Alice. Later that night, everyone sits down at Lila Mae's for dinner.

I Am Sylar

Peter, Claire, and the others continue to eat dinner at Lila Mae's. After Nathan flies off to fix "his mess", Peter flies off after him.

An Invisible Thread

As Peter and Nathan head to the top floor of the Stanton Hotel to fight Sylar, they see Claire telekinetically thrown out of the room. Claire tells Peter and Nathan to go fight him, and after the fight ends, Claire finds only Peter in the room. They return to the ground floor, where Secret Service agents confront them. Claire tells them to back off.

That night, Peter, Claire, and everyone else attends Sylar's funeral at Coyote Sands. Neither is aware that the "Sylar" being burned is actually a fake, and the real Sylar has now become Nathan.

Claire comes to Noah's apartment just as Peter is leaving. She asks what he was doing, and he replies that he was asking Noah for advice. When Peter remarks that he has to get to work, Claire asks if he is using a new power. Peter promptly super speeds away.

Tabula Rasa

Peter teleports to Noah's apartment, just as Claire is visiting. He reveals to Claire and Noah that Hiro is dying. Peter and Noah locate a healer and they teleport away, leaving Claire by herself.

Let It Bleed

Claire tells Peter that he's the one person she truly trusts anymore as he's the only one who's ever honest with her and he promises to keep it that way. Claire later acompanies Peter in facing a gunman and reluctantly lets him replicate her power to heal a wound. Claire helps him get over Nathan's death somewhat and calls West over so Peter can copy flight as a way of remembering Nathan.

Memorable Quotes

"Are you the one? Saving you, did I save the world?"

"I don't know... I'm just a cheerleader."

- Peter, Claire (Homecoming)

"You're totally my hero."

- Claire (to Peter) (Fallout)

Age Difference

While many fans are loyal to this relationship, several others protest due to the age difference. Claire will be turning 16 by the end of 2006 and Peter is 26 years old (Godsend). A sexual relationship between two such individuals would constitute statutory rape.

At this point in the series, while their immediate connection to one another is deep, they're merely platonic. Peter's determination to fulfill whatever destiny awaits him and Claire, and Claire's own revelation that she isn't "alone" anymore fuels whatever connection they have.

Tim Kring on "Paire"

In an interview with TV Guide[1], Tim Kring was asked "Wasn't there a hint of a romantic spark between Claire and Peter? Now that we know they're related, it's kinda creepy." Kring responded, "That wasn't my intention, but I can see why some viewers took it that way. You get two very attractive young people on screen together, and people naturally go there. She looked to him as a hero, her knight in shining armor, and I think people translated that into romance. But it wasn't ever the plan. First of all, there's the age thing: Claire is 16 years old, and Peter is a good 10 years older. And now that he's her uncle, it changes everything. But those two will cross paths again."

Milo Ventimiglia and Hayden Panettiere on "Paire"

During the Heroes panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International, Panettiere and Ventimiglia were asked about their characters' chemistry, despite boos from the crowd. Ventimiglia stated, “They…are…related. End of story. I’m flattered, but…” Panettiere pointed out the age difference between her and Ventimiglia, and asked, “Which is creepier, the fact that he’s my uncle, or the fact that there’s….” Ventimiglia replied, “Uncle. Uncle.” Both were visibly sickened by the thought. He then pointed out that the characters had “hooked up” on the level that they had an emotional, caring, protective relationship, along with a strong bond. [2]

The Actors' Relationship

  • It has been confirmed a few times that actress Hayden Panettiere and actor Milo Ventimiglia are dating.
  • They have broken up since the beginning of 2009.
