Pyrokinesis is the ability to create and control fire using the power of the mind.
Characters
- Meredith Gordon has this ability.
- Maarten, an agent of The Company also has this ability.
- In a possible future, Peter Petrelli has absorbed this power under unknown circumstances.
Limits
So far, Meredith has only demonstrated the ability to create a small fire from her fingertips or in the palm of her hand. She is not hurt by the fire she creates; whether this implies resistance to fire from other sources is unknown.
Claude claimed that Meredith "exploded" when he and Mr. Bennet tried to "bag and tag" her for the Company (Hell's Angel), indicating that she can produce large amounts of flame from all over her body. The maximum amount of heat and/or flame she can produce is not yet known.
In Team Building Exercise, Maarten shows he is able to conjure large flames and launch them in directed streams over long distances.
Selected Examples

- Meredith shows her daughter her capabilities by making a small fireball in her hand. (Distractions)

- In 1992, a fire starts in Meredith's apartment, allowing her to escape Mr. Bennet and Claude. (Hell's Angel)
- In 2011, Sylar and Peter face off. In a creative mirroring of old western movies, Sylar's hands turn to ice at his will, where Peter's ignite flame. (Five Years Gone)
- While battling a team of evolved humans, Peter ignites his hands. (Walls, Part 2)
- In 1989, Maarten uses his ability to extinguish and trap the "liquid man". (Team Building Exercise)
