D.L. Hawkins uses his phasing power to rescue a trapped motorist.

Phasing is the ability to move through solid matter.

Characters

D.L. Hawkins is the only character known to have this ability.

Limits

It is unclear whether phasing changes D.L.'s body or the object he is passing through.

D.L. is been able to pass only one part of his body through an object. The remainder of D.L.'s body and the rest of the object remain solid. One exhibited use of this is D.L. passing his arm through a door and manipulating the lock on the other side.

When D.L. phases through something, the surface of the object distorts as if liquified.

D.L. can use this power to put his hand into another human being. This can be harmful to the other person. It is unknown whether the interaction itself is harmful or if D.L. does something inside the other's body.

The phasing ability appears to require active concentration.

Examples

  • D.L. phased through the wall of Niki's house. (Hiros, Better Halves)
  • D.L. opened a door that was locked; this may have been accomplished through phasing (Better Halves)
  • D.L. phased his arm into Niki's chest, incapacitating her. (Better Halves)
  • D.L. put his hand through a closed car window to unlock the door. (Nothing to Hide)
  • D.L. reached through a cabin door to unlock it from the inside. (Fallout)
  • D.L. escaped from a pair of handcuffs at a police station and then later walked through the wall of a prison in order to escape. (Snapshots (GN))
