Maya's power is an as-yet unnamed ability to kill people in her vicinity.

Characters

• Maya is the only character known to have this ability.

Limits

When distressed, Maya secretes a black liquid from her eyes. People near her when she manifests these symptoms rapidly become ill and die, also secreting black liquid from their eyes. The maximum range of this effect is not yet known.

Maya appears to have little, if any, control over her ability.

Alejandro's ability can negate this power and even reverse the effects on victims if applied quickly enough.

Examples

• Maya kills a group of coyotes. (Four Months Later).
• Maya's ability affects her and Alejandro's guide across the border, but she is revived by Alejandro. (Lizards).
• Maya's ability affects two police officers and Derek to release her brother, who later revives them. (Kindred)
• Despite having Alejandro right next to her, Maya still loses control of her ability after Sylar tells her that Derek called the police on them. Sylar's eyes blacken, but he does not die. (The Kindness of Strangers)
