Dream manipulation is the ability to manipulate the dreams of others.
Characters
Sanjog Iyer 1, Charles Deveaux 2 3 4 and Peter Petrelli have this ability. This is probably the first power that Peter Petrelli absorbed while working with the dying Charles Deveaux. We first see it when Peter has a strange, lucid dream about flying. However, Peter's first experience was probably when Nathan has his car accident. Peter tells his mother that he somehow knew about Nathan's accident before he got the phone call about it.
Limits
The operation of Sanjog's power is not well known, although he has stated that those with questions come to him.
Sanjog appears to be able to intrude into the dreams of only people who are already asleep.
There may be a clairvoyant aspect to the images Sanjog creates, since the image he summoned of the murder of Chandra Suresh contains details of events that neither he nor the dreamer — Mohinder Suresh — actually witnessed.
Charles Deveaux appears to have planted a dream with Peter before he died, however, Peter did not actually dream it until he needed to know the information, much later.
Examples
- Mohinder dreams about conversations with his father and between his father and mother. He also dreams of his father's murder. Sanjog appears in both. (Seven Minutes to Midnight)
- Mohinder dreams of his father again, and is able to discern his father's motives for distancing himself from Mohinder. (Homecoming)
Notes
- Sanjog's file, found in Chandra's desk at his office, contains articles about continued learning during sleep. (Seven Minutes to Midnight)
